10 Principles of Good Web Design! Dieter Rams

Back in the late 1970s, Dieter Rams was becoming increasingly concerned by the state of the world around him: “An impenetrable confusion of forms, colours and noises.”

Aware that he was a significant contributor to that world, he asked himself an important question: is my design good design?

As influential as he is in the design world, Rams thinks good design cannot be measured in a finite way and his answer is expressed in his ten principles of good design.

They are often referred to as the Ten Commandment.

Learn how to bring Rams’ commandment on board and make your web site better by:

Making your website easy to interact with so the user will delight in it. (aka user enjoyment through user enablement
Having a design that will automatically explain to the user what its function is so that there’s never a gap between what the user perceives it to be and what it truly is.
Designing with a view to guide your users towards the needed interactions.
Not building unneeded elements into the website. Remember the 80/20 rule and think carefully before adding every element to avoid the chance of clutter. "Less is better!"
