5 tips on how to be more visible on Google

How to be more visible on Google and other search engines.
1. Good content on your website.
Good content has become more important than ever in the struggle for visibility on Google. Using the appropriate methods will make your website more visible on Google. The quality of content has turned out to be much more vital than before. If you have great content on your website, your article/blog is more likely to be shared on social media. The more people read, like, comment, share and link to your website, the better friends you and Google will become. When we talk about content sharing and generosity, this applies to all digital and social media.
2. Is your website mobile friendly?
Google will penalise sites that are not mobile-optimised. They do so by ranking mobile-optimised websites higher in the search results than pages that are not mobile-optimised. Google also recommends responsive design rather than creating a separate mobile version of your website. A responsive design automatically re-adjusts the content according to the device it is displayed on. Your site will look equally good whether you visit it on a mobile phone or a computer. You can check your website easily by taking the mobile test HERE.
3. Long tail – Consider questions – not just keywords; when people search
What would a potential customer type in when he (or she) is looking for a solution to their problem to which you have the solution? Answer these questions in your articles/blogs, often in the headline, and create useful content around this that educates your prospects. e.g. How to be more visible on Google.
Tip: Write one article/blog post for each question.
4. Why make it complicated when you can do it easy
What would you say and why? Do not complicate the language you use. Use words that people recognise, or include an explanation of what it means. You will not be found if you surround yourself with too many expert expressions and use complicated terminology in your content. Call a spade a spade – people relate to that!
5. See which keywords are appropriate for your business
With Google. Adwords Keyword Planner can find those keywords that best suit your business. Which phrases were searched for, and which phrases do you have an opportunity to come up high in the organic search? This empowers you to be more creative while blogging but also gives you information about which keywords you can buy so you can get on top when someone searches for your product or services through Google.
This is how you do this:
- Register as a user on Google Adwords (If you already have a Gmail account, you can use that account to log in)
- Go to Tools and select Keyword Planner
- Select “Search for new targeting ideas using a phrase, website or category.”
- Enter all the relevant keywords for your article or page and go to ‘Targeting’ to set your filters. Then click on Get ideas.
On the next page, you will find the keywords which are used and variations of these with their average monthly searches.
Tip Use those with low competition and low monthly searches if you’re starting up so you don’t compete with too many other websites. When your website gains in popularity, you can broaden your search terms.
