5 Steps to building your first Online Sales Funnel

How to build your First Online Sales Funnel
A business needs to be marketed; without careful and proper marketing, a business will not reach its full potential. In the digital age, one of the most important and easiest ways is the use of a sales funnel. From the first time a prospect hears about your business until the moment he buys from you, he passes through different stages of your sales funnel.
What are sales funnels?
The sales funnel is a marketing strategy that looks like a funnel. It’s as simple as that! It is biggest at the top, where the largest number of people, or potential customers, is engaged. The funnel narrows until only a small number of committed customers remains. The stages of a sales funnel also refer to a potential customer’s degree of readiness to commit to action and become a buying customer.
To build a successful sales funnel, you need to understand the different steps involved in the sales funnel strategy and who your target customers are.
The first step is awareness when the person visits your website for the first time. The prospect learns about your product or service and how it can solve his problems.
When the prospect expresses an interest in your product or service, you can attract him with some great content.
At the next stage, the prospect makes the decision that he wants to take advantage of your solution. He’s paying more attention to what you offer and other sales offer that is made by using sales pages, webinars, calls, etc.
By taking action, the prospect becomes a customer. He’s committing to buy or subscribe by clicking the purchase button.
Once you’re familiar with the different stages of a sales funnel, you can build your own funnel to market your business by using the following steps.
1. Generate a compelling landing page.
The landing page of your website is the first impression potential customers get of your business. You only have a few seconds to grab their attention, stay on your site and ideally get them to give you their contact information. This can be done by signing up for a list or subscribing to the website. When a prospect has confirmed interest in your offering, you can then communicate with the person in order to advance to the next step in the sales process. What’s important is to build the demand of your prospects in advance and turn their implied needs into explicit needs.
2. Have a front-end offer
You now need to present the potential customer with the opportunity to buy a product or a service. This is also where you will try to create a desire to continue doing business with you and move on to the next offer you present. You are pre-selling the next product in the funnel. Once a customer has bought a product or service from you and is satisfied with it, chances are he’ll buy from you again rather than looking for some other business.
3. Give an upsell offer
The customer is now presented with the opportunity to upgrade to a product that will deliver more, solve even more problems, and be of greater benefit. This is called an upsell and also involves more money. It is an even better product or service that is more expensive and brings in more money for your business. Obviously, the offer also has to be in line with the higher price and deliver what it promises.
4. Also present a downsize option
Not all customers will be interested in buying a more expensive, advanced product. But you don’t want to lose them, so you can bring in a downgraded offer to these customers. A downsize option doesn’t signify failure but a way to keep a customer who may be unable to buy from you due to budget constraints. Remember that the constraint may change, and this customer may be in a position to buy from you in the future. You keep these individuals as potential customers by being considerate and offering cheaper options.
5. Keep the momentum going
The conclusion of the sale doesn’t mean the end of the sales funnel. Satisfied customers are usually loyal customers and may become brand ambassadors. By word-of-mouth and through social media, they may bring more business your way. It’s important to follow up with customers and keep in contact. Thus you can inform them about new products and keep them up-to-date with new business ventures.
The steps we have listed here are aimed at businesses with an online presence. It may not fit exactly with your business, but you can set your sales funnel up with some tweaks.
All businesses will benefit from setting up and using a sales funnel. In fact, if you do not implement a sales funnel with a suitable marketing campaign and sales process, you’ll find that are unable to beat your competitors and make a good living, let alone become financially free.
